13th July 2021

“The National Outdoor Events Association welcomes the latest update from the government, confirming the end of the enforced lock down, 19th July. This continued confirmation will add much needed security to event organisers, still able to put on events in the last period of the industry’s key summer season. The association also calls upon the government to also end the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) (No.3) Regulations that are currently due to end 28th September, in line with the reopening on the 19th July.

What is important now, for the events industry is that, following this announcement, clear and unambiguous guidance is passed down to Local Authorities to allow them to work with event organisers on licencing events.

Equally, insurance will continue to be a priority. An event specific scheme will add to the de-risking of the industry and allow an injection of confidence and creativity back into the sector. This is a crucial time for the industry to give itself a sturdier platform for growth and the return to prosperity for the many events businesses.

Finally, it is now crucial to turn our attention to the many, many events, and event suppliers, that have not been able to go forward this year, and who have been without finance for the last 18 months. It is crucial that these businesses are given the support they need to get them through until next summer, or we will see more businesses closing and more event professionals out of work.”
