Ghostwriter partners Marble Factory @ Motion (Bristol)
Ghostwriter Consultancy & Events are delighted to announce an extension to their partnership with Bristol venue Marble Factory. The renewed long‐term arrangement will see Ghostwriter continue to oversee and operate all live music events within the (1,350 capacity standing) venue.
Since the initial partnership’s inception, the venue has played host to a wide variety of live artists including Bastille, The Interrupters, Rex Orange County, Confidence Man, Jessie Ware, Mitski and Fred Again…
Carl Bathgate, Ghostwriter’s Commercial Director, commented, “With the addition of the Marble Factory within the Motion complex, the award‐winning independent venue renowned for electronic music has grown significantly after hosting an eclectic mix of over 80 live shows in the last 18 months. In order to remain competitive in such a strong territory we have revisited our offering and made significant investments coupled with operational improvements to further support our clients and their artists and keep the venue moving forwards.”
Throughout the summer of 2022 the backstage area was further developed to increase the number of dressing rooms from two to three, and the refurbishment of the spacious production office, a pair of self contained shower rooms, laundry and kitchen area combining to significantly improve the artist experience. Significant financial investments have also been made by both partners to enhance the available in‐house production with audio and lighting upgrades arriving over the coming weeks to include new audio and lighting desks as well as upgrades to the audio peripherals and lighting fixtures.
Further strategic decisions have been taken which see the venue become the largest independent venue in Bristol not to charge a merchandise concession fee. Additionally, both Motion and Ghostwriter have committed to a large multimedia marketing support package for all shows in order to further support all promoters in driving ticket sales.
Bathgate commented further, “The investment in the venue is reflected in the extension of our arrangement with Motion, we will continue to make incremental improvements to the venue both in terms of facilities and technical provision to further enhance the offering. We have very much enjoyed working with Martin and his team, as their enthusiasm and passion has been a pleasure to be around. We look forward to many more years of successful partnership both in relation to the venue and beyond.”
Martin Page, Director of Motion, said, “Motion Event’s partnership with Ghostwriter has enhanced our live music offering greatly and has grown from strength to strength since reopening in July 2021. Working with Carl and his team has been professional, seamless, commercially successful and a real pleasure resulting in the ability to reinvest in the future of the venue. With more projects in the pipeline, the relationship continues to go from strength to strength and has become a real asset to our business. We view the Ghostwriter team as not only colleagues but now firm friends and look forward to many more years working together and building upon such a strong relationship developed over the past three years.
This is fantastic news for team Motion, Ghostwriter and the City of Bristol.”

ABOUT MOTION.
Located just outside Bristol City centre Motion is housed across three listed Victorian warehouses that were originally built as a gasworks and marble factory. In 2006 when the site’s primary function was that of a popular skate park, events began to be staged here with the skate‐ramps forming part of the dancefloor. Later in 2015 the complex was developed as full‐time club‐night and gig venues spaces and its next chapter of entertaining the people of Bristol began in earnest.
Late 2016 saw the present Directors take ownership and embarked on extensive three year program of refurbishment. Motion received a whole new layout featuring a central stage, improved bar facilities and a DJ booth that sat just above crowd level. The Marble Factory was also transformed into a multi‐level arena, with its new design making the best of high vaulted ceilings by incorporating a wraparound mezzanine level delivering an amphitheatre like feel.
In mid‐2021, Marble Factory relaunched as a bespoke live music venue boasting new artist facilities including new dressing rooms with direct stage access and parking as well as a live technical package including a LAcoustic Kara flown PA.
In addition to the indoor spaces the venue has the ability to stage outdoor events and has successfully welcomed bands, DJ’s, cinema and food festivals throughout the summer period keeping the offering fresh, eclectic and versatile.
Motion has played host to a wide variety of electronic and live artists over the years including, The Chemical Brothers, BBC Radio 6 Festival, IDLES, Primal Scream, Adam Beyer, Public Enemy, Deadmau5, Death Grips and Stormzy.
