Geoff Ellis, Chief Executive of DF Concerts & Events, and one of the leading personalities in the events industry, will be the keynote speaker opening the NOEA Convention 2019, next month. Geoff will set the scene for the convention’s theme ’Who’s Looking After Who in Events’, and will share his own experiences on the responsibilities, legalities and boundaries of event organisers, to their audiences.
Geoff follows on from another industry great, Dick Tee, who opened the NOEA convention last year, and will talk about his own experiences and learnings from a career that has spanned over a quarter of a century. Geoff is no stranger to controversy and will share candid insight into the responsibilities event organisers have to negotiate when organising major events.
Geoff, and his team at DF Concerts, & Events have been the creative powerhouses behind come of the industry’s most recognisable brands, from T in the Park, to TRNSMT and the promoter’s Summer Sessions, to its creation of Gigs in Scotland.com, as well as owning and operating the legendary music venue King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow.
As part of the convention, there will also be a ‘live crisis workshop session’, and a special feature on the recently introduced exclusion zone – or ‘Zone X’. The agenda will also see sessions on the health and wellbeing of on-site staff, using ticketing to understand who is onsite, and a Q&A on ensuring the next generation of event professionals are best prepared for a career in the industry.
The NOEA convention will take place 27th November once again at The Guildhall, in historic Bath, and precede NOEA’s annual awards event. Last year the event saw over 150 delegates in attendance with more expected for 2019.
