Apprentice Events Assistant

Are you looking to start a career in Events?  We are looking for an apprentice Events Assistant to join the Events Team for a busy programme of events in 2022-23.  This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience of what it takes to put on a big event, and develop some of the skills and knowledge to start a career in Events while undertaking structured learning towards an Events Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship.

You will be working on events that the council helps organise such as the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend, Godiva Festival, Coventry Peace Festival, Christmas Lights Switch On, and more.  You may be involved in the closing events of Coventry’s year as UK City of Culture, and also when Coventry plays its part in the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations, The 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, and the International Children’s Games.  Additionally, you could also be supporting community groups, local businesses and sports organisations to hold their events in the city.

This will be a busy and varied job role, involving working in the office during planning stages, keeping information up to date, communicating with performers, suppliers, and colleagues in other teams, and responding to customer enquiries.  You will be attending stakeholder meetings, joining site visits, and most importantly helping the team run events on the day, backstage behind the scenes, and front of house, dealing with customers.

You will also be undertaking structured learning towards an Events Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship.
